Peony Fairy Magic Art Print
This art print is inspired by Cicely Mary Barker’s (1895-1973) Flower Fairies, which were illustrations, often accompanied by poetry, that depicted young children with butterfly wings dressed in costumes that matched the blossoms or fruits they represented.
As a symbol of self-empowerment, I wanted my illustration to be of peonies because of how "magically" a tight peony bud can open into large, showy flowers. As anyone on a personal growth journey would know, this blossoming process is natural but scary. However, at the end of the day, we must surrender to our nature to shine, as described by Anaïs Nin in her famous quote, "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
