No Place Like Home Art Print
This art print is part of my series Beyond Text. In this series, I re-interpret a quote from a classic book through decorative hand lettering and illustration. By blurring the boundaries between word and image, I mirror how personal and collective stories come together to create a greater cultural narrative about selfhood and (be)longing to nature.
The quote here is from Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900). The symbolism of Dorothy returning home by clicking on her shoes is so strong in popular culture that I felt it necessary to refer to them. The original silver slippers from the book are shown here with flowers in them, revealing my desire (and a collective human desire) to return home to the beauty of nature.
Recommended size: 12x16 for minimal cropping of original artwork.
