Afternoon Tea in the Conservatory Art Print
In this art print, I wanted to illustrate the romance of abundant flourishing. A sunlit conservatory displays lush greenery. At the centre of the room is an elegantly set table with tea and desserts. The chandelier, the grand architecture, and the wrought-iron garden chairs allude to early or mid 19th century France.
From a historical standpoint, the owners of this conservatory must have been very wealthy. They may have been envied by others or been seen as the aristocratic or bourgeous villians of a social class struggle. From this story of injustice, abundance isn't a romance but a faux-pas. But to carry this story into the dream of a better world means to carry the guilt of having more than others.
When you look at the image, who do you see as the owner? Of course, as the artist, I see this place as mine. I am the one who will bathe in the beauty of the sunlight, indulge in those sweet desserts, and be blessed by the miracles of plant life. This abundance is my birth right that story can hold back. The table is set. Will you be joining me?
Best fit: 12x16 for minimal cropping of original artwork.
