Feel A Prayer Art Print
This art print is part of a series called Beyond Text. In this series, I re-interpret a quote from a classic book through decorative hand lettering and illustration. By blurring the boundaries between word and image, I mirror how personal and collective stories come together to create a greater cultural narrative about selfhood and our (be)longing to nature.
The quote here is from Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables (1908). While the content of the quote speaks my mind, the diagogues spoken by Anne in the book cannot be separated from her because she is such a strong character. So, in this image, I illustrate the scene as described: Anne looking into the sky and feeling a prayer. Since every beloved hero(ine) belongs to a landscape, I allude to the PEI landscape with some flowering lupines in the foreground.
