Surrender to the Path of the Sacred Cosmos Art Print
After learning more about labyrinths at a silent retreat, I wanted to make a miniature version of my own so I could mentally "walk" the labyrinth at any time. But instead of simply recreating a typical labyrinth design, I decided to make it unique. I read that labyrinths are symbols of the sacred feminine—where Heaven meets the Earth—so a nature theme was perfect. Based on the 11-circuit labyrinth at the Chartres Cathedral, my design takes us down a long and winding path that starts at the baby's breath, past a series of leaf motifs, into the cosmos (flower) centre.
I like metaphors, but here, the double meaning of the flower names are not metaphors. Rather, language is playing a joke with us, seeing if we are worthy of its submission to us. I've learned of its cleverness and so am in on the joke. Now, language takes a back seat to another illusion: what seems like a puzzle of choices and confusions is merely a singular route to the centre of the cosmos.
In a maze, we use logic, but in a labyrinth, we surrender.
