Ecopsychology and Placemaking for Environmental Design Professions

This video is an edited version of a webinar I hosted in 2022. In the presentation, I explain the relevance of ecopsychology to placemaking using the profession of landscape architecture as a case study. The presentation covers themes such as the tensions of place and belonging, the collective traumas at the root of contemporary environmental issues, and the complexities of navigating personal/professional ethics.

In an increasing world of digital systems and interactions, social isolation and world chaos, we may wonder if place still matters and if place-making can still be effective. As pivotal moments of our social-ecological crises come to the forefront, we are faced with both the challenge and opportunity to re-assess what professional identity really means and make choices to support our collective vision for the world.
